A Year To Be Thankfur For

When life is busy and tough, it's hard to think of all the good things going on. Focusing on putting out the fires seems to consume the year. I know that's how a lot of people feel. The other day it really hit me that I have so much to be thankful for this year. I don't know if I've really had more blessings than usual this year or if I'm just finally taking the time to think about all that I haven't given thanks for in the past. It started at my in-laws house last Saturday when we gathered to celebrate thanksgiving with her family. At the table they pass around a "Thankerchief", which is a handkerchief with a turkey painted on it. When it's your turn you have to tell what you're thankful for this year. Natalie's grandma wanted us to say 10 things that we are thankful for. My first reaction was, "10 things!!! Holy crap!!! That's a lot." Then after the initial panic, I began to think about what I am thankful for this year. That's when I realized I really have a lot. God really has taken care of so much this year.

Natalie and I feel extremely blessed that not only do we get to have our families so close to us, but that our families do so much to help us out with the little things that keep us running while we're making it through school. We wouldn't be in the place we are today without their help, and we can't begin to express how thankful we are for all the little things they do.

My little nephew Drew is a wonderful blessing right now, and the news of his good health is amazing. Having a little baby in the family has been so much fun, not only for me to have a little guy to play with, but to see my whole family light up around him.

As much as school is a pain, I am so very thankful that I have the opportunity to go to grad school and that I am already half way through. There have been some tough quarters so far where I just barely squeaked through, but God brought me through each of those quarters and I continue to move toward my goal of working in Major League Baseball. Next year I will start my 2nd internship with the Milwaukee Brewers. I have been extremely blessed to get the opportunity to work in Major League Baseball. Very few people get this opportunity, and I am so grateful for it.

My wife has definately been the closest and biggest blessing in my life. I love her more every day and we have more fun with each other all the time. Being married to her has taught me what it really means to love another person with all that I am. I look forward to experiencing the rest of life with her.

Of course, this is an abridged version of the full list, but these are some of the things that I'm most thankful for.
